Confession of a Telemarketing jokey

Hello Everyone!!

This is Ridwan and today I am going to share some of my personal experience from my call center days. For many years, I have been working with an international outbound call center.

Recently, I was working with a client from UK to make sales call for energy products to customers in UK. Oh yes, I have a UK name as well. When I make calls to UK, it’s very normal that I use a specific UK name; I go by the name “JAYSON WHITE.”

From the very beginning I have been interacting with customers who do not like telemarketing and most of them are tired of getting calls from telemarketers. I saw a report that, people in UK and US receives at least 23 telemarketing calls a day. That’s simply horrible.

When I call them, most of them used to abuse me like anything. I have heard that people in UK has the greatest manner in this world. Trust me, what I have been through, I can never agree with that opinion. But that’s not their fault. If I receive some 20 calls from telemarketers each day, maybe I would abuse them more than what they did to me.

I think something needs to change; people should not be bothered like this. I really feel pity for them.

Do you have any idea, what should be the alternative of this telemarketing? If you ask me, than I must say, look at alternate options. Why bother people over phone if there are other ways to reach out to the target customers? I suggest doing some e-marketing or try to network through the Social Media:

1. It is easier than bothering people over the phone.
2. Only interested customers will want to find out about the product.
3. Cost effective; a big savings of money and time.
4. Customers privacy remains secure.
